I have scoured the internet in search of rules in order to form this blob of a forum into a respectable mass of Let's Players. There ARE a few things that need to be said though, yes.... rules. The following are things that we do NOT TOLERATE

Discrimination and Harassment

These are absolutely forbidden. We want each and every single member to feel welcome on this forum, regardless of how many posts they have, how long they have been a member, age, gender, religion, race, or sexual orientation. You are allowed to disagree with someone else's opinion, but there is no excuse to abuse or harass them for it. If you are going to disagree with someone, make your post constructive and respectful of them. If you join this message board for the sole purpose of harassing another member, you will be banned.

Flaming

Flaming is the posting of hateful or abusive message intended to hurt someone. There is absolutely no excuse for flaming.

Fighting

Whether this is a full-blown flame war or bickering between members, it is not welcome here. If somebody flames you, do not respond. Wait for an administrator or moderator to deal with it. If you respond and start flaming back, you are just as much to blame. If you have a problem with another member, do not make it everyone's problem by posting in the public forums. Either work out your differences via private message, or contact a staff member. This rule also includes posting snide remarks about another member you don't like, and egging on members who are fighting.

Trolling

A troll is someone who posts messages that are designed to cause trouble. This is also known as flame-baiting. There is a common saying, "Do not feed the trolls", and we would advise you that if you do see someone trolling, do not respond to their posts. That is exactly what they want, and you may find yourself in trouble as well. If you join this message board for the sole purpose of causing trouble, you will be banned.

Spam

Spam is posting pointless messages just for the sake of posting. This includes replies like “LOL” and “Yeah”. Please post only when you have something new to contribute to a topic. A new post in a topic is not a cue for you to post again. You don’t need to keep repeating a point, because we would have read it the first time. If you have nothing to say, don’t post. This message board has no ranking system for members, and this includes for the number of posts. So you’re just wasting your time if you spam to raise your post count. The moderators will just delete your pointless posts and lower your post count manually if they have to. Do not post to advertise your site, unless it's in the "Links and Webmasters" forum. If you want to talk about your site, make it part of the discussion.

Going Off-Topic

This is similar to spam. Try and keep your posts related to the topic being discussed. If you find yourself wanting to talk about something else, you can always make a new topic for it. If you find yourself online at the same time as another member, don't stray off into a conversation with them in a topic; use the chat room or an instant messaging service.

Double or Multiple Posting

This is making more than one post in a row. If you have just posted, and want to add something extra to your post, you can edit it. If you look at the top, right hand corner of your original post, you will see a little button that says "Edit". If you click it, you will be able to edit and add to your original post.
You can double post if you want to revive a topic that hasn't been posted in for a while (and I mean a while, don't post again just because no-one has posted for a day, I mean revive the topic if it has fallen down the list or onto a new page). You can also double post to update fan fictions or fan art that you're posting.

Ignoring Warnings from Staff

If you receive a warning from staff, please make sure you listen to it and take notice. Don't keep doing what you were asked to stop. Members will be banned depending on the case. And once you are banned, you are banned for good. This forum has no such thing as temporary banning or suspension.

Posting in Languages other than English

Please make sure that all of your posts can be read in English. If you post in another language, it must be accompanied by an accurate English translation.

Before I explain this rule, I want to state clearly that this rule is not in place because I am racist or dislike non-English speakers. On the contrary, I enjoy and encourage studying and speaking in other languages. This rule is in place because there was a time when some members were posting all over the place in foreign languages and anyone who didn't speak the language had no idea what was being posted, including the moderating team. For all we knew, they could be posting obscene and insulting messages, which could be a problem if a speaker of that language read the posts. Not to mention, other members may feel left out of a discussion, which goes against our 'a place for everyone' policy. Providing a link or embedded webpage to an online translator to accompany the post is not acceptable as many of these translators are quite poor.

If you must make posts in another language, please provide the English translation along with it. That way other members can join in the discussion and may learn from your post if they study the language.

So for example, if a new member joins the board and says they're from Germany, and you speak German, you're welcome to post a message to them in German, as long as you provide an English translation underneath. I also strongly enourage topics that help other members learn languages, so if you do speak another language you're more than welcome to make a topic that teaches the language, or a topic where you can talk in that language, provided that you include the translation.

The exception to this rule is nouns and names, so for example you don't need to provide a translation if you are talking about an anime or manga with a Japanese title.

Multiple Accounts

Each member is allowed one account. There is no need for one person to have more than one account. If for some reason you find you cannot log into your account, email an administrator and one of us will fix it. Please be patient and wait for their response instead of making a second account. The only reason I can see for someone making more than one account is to cause trouble.

Duplicate Topics

This message board discourages duplicate topics, that is a topic that is the same as another topic that already is in existence. It clutters up the board and makes it hard to find topics. Further, it causes a split in the conversation, and someone may feel the need to add something twice, or miss something another member had said completely.
If you find an old topic which you wish to add to it is perfectly fine to revive it, as long as you contribute to it. In other words, the Spam rule still applies

Talk of Suicide and Self Harm

We know that depression is a serious illness that can affect a person's thoughts, and that some members have problems in their lives. I know that this may sound harsh, but talk of suicide and self-harm is not allowed on this message board, including in the blogs.

The reason for this is that first and foremost, Legends Place is a forum for Zelda fans to talk with each other. Almost everyone initially comes here because they are a fan of the games. This includes children. If a child joins to talk happily about their favourite Zelda games, they may be disturbed to find discussion of suicide or people hurting themselves. This board is intended to be an enjoyable experience, and something like a suicide threat could greatly impact that experience for other posters. Any member may feel sad and helpless if they see another member saying that they want to kill themselves. nothing that any other member can do to help a member who threatens to kill him or herself. Talking about depression or the fact that you deal with it is fine, but graphic descriptions of self-harm, threats of suicide, or suicide notes will not be allowed. Secondly, in the past I have seen people actually encouraging each other in their self-destructive talk. I do not want to see anyone hurting themselves and therefore I will act quickly to stop any such talk.

The only possible exceptions are poetry or songs that contain these themes. Even in these instances, the moderators or administrators may ask you to remove a poem or song if they consider it to be too graphic.

Finally, we, the moderators and administrators of this board, would like to add that if you truly intend to harm yourself or attempt suicide we urge you to get help immediately. If there is a member(s) you trust, you are more than welcome to discuss your problems with them in private. But I implore you, if you are really struggling with these thoughts do not post about it on a message board where people are powerless to help you. Get help from someone you trust: a parent, relative, teacher, friend, a suicide hotline, a doctor, etc.

Cursing

Cursing, Cussing, saying bad words. However you put it, it may not be appropriate. Please limit yourself on how many bad words you use. You don't have to make a 'fuck' counter or anything, just make sure your post isn't something like:

Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck, bitch ass shit sperm spewing motherfucker with hind legs shaped like butt holes

It's not as funny as you think, as some members may find this offensive. Cursing is allowed, but in moderation.

Signature size

Signatures must adhere to the following parameters:

1. The maximum size for a signature is 500 pixels wide by 300 pixels tall, including images and text. See below for an example.

2. Embedded audio or video files are not be allowed.

here is an example

Finally, if we all follow rules, hopefully we can grow up to be a respectable forum. We ARE pretty lenient on these things, but only when it's meant jokingly, still though, if it offends someone, we may have to use our ban hammer, and we don't like using our ban hammer. Each Forum on this Board has a specific set of rules, so follow the rules, and try not to get banned!
